There’s something quietly striking about a crochet top that earns a second look — and this beaded strapless blouse is exactly that. The scalloped hem and scattered gold beads give it a finished, almost delicate quality that’s hard to believe comes from a free pattern. If you’ve made the crochet peplum top or the white peplum top, the flared silhouette here will feel familiar from the start.
Crochet Summer Blouse
Cotton or cotton-blend yarn keeps the bodice structured enough to hold its shape without a lining the bra ring detail in the tutorial handles the rest. For a different take on the strapless silhouette, the boho summer blouse is worth a look once you’ve finished this one.
Materials
To ensure your blouse has the perfect drape and durability, I recommend using high-quality natural fibers.
Yarn: 250g of 100% Cotton Yarn (Sport or Fingering weight recommended for a 2.4mm hook).
Hook: 2.4 mm crochet hook.
Accents: Murano beads (or decorative beads of your choice).

Notions: Sewing needle (must fit through bead centers), scissors, measuring tape, and stitch markers.
Sizing & Measurements
This pattern is written for a Size Small, but is easily adjustable.
Sample Width: 44 cm (underarm to underarm).
Custom Fit: Measure your upper bust from underarm to underarm. Create your foundation chain in a multiple of 2 + 1 until it matches your measurement.
Pattern Instructions

1. Bead Preparation
Before you pick up your hook, you must “pre-load” your beads.
Thread your beads onto the yarn using a sewing needle.
Thread more than you think you need! It is much easier to slide extra beads down the yarn than to cut your work and add more later.
Keep beads pushed down the yarn ball, sliding them forward only when called for in the pattern.
- Still getting the hang of reading crochet patterns? That’s completely okay, the video tutorial below breaks everything down in a simple, beginner-friendly way!
2. The Blouse Base
Foundation: Create a chain (multiple of 2 + 1) to your desired width.
Row 1: Skip the first chain. Work 1 slip stitch (sl st), then 1 half double crochet (hdc). Repeat from * to * across the row. End with a sl st. Turn.
Row 2: Work sl st into the sl st of the previous row, and hdc into the hdc of the previous row.
Bead Integration: Every 10 pattern sections (20 stitches), slide one bead forward and secure it with a sl st.
Pro-Tip: The Texture Match
To keep the “grit” texture of this stitch, ensure you are always working your slip stitches into the slip stitches of the row below. If the fabric looks slanted, double-check that you aren’t accidentally placing an hdc into a sl st.

3. Upper Body Section
Bead Work: Work 1 row with beads, followed by 7 rows of the standard pattern without beads.
Staggering: On bead rows, offset your beads so they sit between the beads of the row below (creating a diamond or “staggered” effect).
Height: Repeat until the piece measures 15 cm (approx. 45 rows).
Edging: Finish with one round of single crochet (sc) evenly around the entire rectangular piece.
4. Back Tie Straps
Placement: Attach yarn to the top side edges of the blouse base.
Base Rows: Work 4 rows of straight double crochet (dc).
Decreasing: Begin decreasing 1 stitch at the start and 1 stitch at the end of every row.
Shaping: Alternate between working a DC2tog and a DC3tog to create a sharp triangle taper.
Extension: Once 11 stitches remain, stop decreasing. Work straight dc for 36 rows (approx. 54 cm total strap length).
Pointed End: Work 2 rows of rapid decreases to finish the strap in a point. Repeat for the second strap.

5. Skirt & Lower Extension
Joining: Join the back of the blouse by making a chain of 50 stitches, connecting the two side edges to create a tube.
Round 1: Work sc around the entire lower edge and across the new 50-stitch chain.
Round 2 (Mesh): 1 dc, chain 1, skip 1 space. Repeat around.
Round 3 (Increase): In each “window” (ch-1 space), alternate working 3 dc and 4 dc. This creates the flared, flowy “skirt” look.
Body: Work 6 rounds of straight dc.
Repeat: Repeat the [1 Mesh Round + 6 DC Rounds] sequence until you reach your desired length.
6. Final Finish & Edging
Wavy Border: 1 sc, skip 2 spaces, 6 dc in the next space, skip 2 spaces. Repeat from * around the entire hem.
Finishing: Fasten off and weave in all loose ends securely.
Technique Explainer: The DC2tog (Double Crochet Two Together)

To decrease smoothly on your straps:
Yarn over, insert hook into stitch, pull up a loop (3 loops on hook).
Yarn over, pull through 2 loops (2 loops on hook).
Yarn over, insert hook into next stitch, pull up a loop (4 loops on hook).
Yarn over, pull through 2 loops (3 loops on hook).
Yarn over, pull through all 3 loops.
Blocking Guide
Because this pattern uses 100% cotton, blocking is essential to open up the mesh and relax the stitches.
Soak: Submerge the blouse in lukewarm water with a drop of wool wash for 15 minutes.
Roll: Roll the blouse in a towel to remove excess moisture (do not wring!).
Pin: Lay the blouse flat on a blocking mat. Pin the flared skirt into a perfect circle and straighten the straps.
Dry: Let it air dry completely. This will set the “wavy” edge and ensure the cotton doesn’t shrink unevenly.
